What is Volunteer Leduc Better Impact and who can use it?
Volunteer Leduc Better Impact is an online volunteer management tool that will be used to connect local volunteers with non-profit organizations. It is for local people who are looking to volunteer in the community; not-for-profit organizations who need volunteer support; and city staff who need volunteers. 

Why are you introducing this volunteer management tool? 
The online tool represents a step forward in modernizing the intake of our volunteers, which is currently paper-based and managed manually. Volunteer Leduc Better Impact will help streamline the process for volunteers, non-profit organizations and the City. 

How will the online tool benefit local volunteers? 
It will offer a variety of benefits to local volunteers, including the ability to: 

  • View multiple local volunteer opportunities in one convenient place; 
  • Create only one account; 
  • Submit application forms; 
  • Manage and log volunteer hours; and, 
  • Take online training. 

How will Volunteer Leduc Better Impact benefit non-profit organizations? 
The online tool will offer a variety of benefits for non-profit organizations, including a way to: 

  • Increase your visibility and exposure with local volunteers 
  • Make easier connections with volunteer community 
  • Promote and market volunteer opportunities 

How will Volunteer Leduc Better Impact benefit the City of Leduc? 
It will offer a variety of benefits to the City, including a streamlined way to: 

  • Attract and connect with volunteers for City initiatives that include a volunteer component; 
  • Provide better data on the volunteer sector in Leduc; and, 
  • Reduce manual processes to create efficiencies that will ultimately save staff time. 

Do I have to live in Leduc to sign up? 
Anyone is welcome to create an account and apply for local volunteer opportunities; however, non-profit organizations must operate in the City of Leduc to use the platform for promoting volunteer opportunities. Organizations in the surrounding area may be considered. For information on your organization's eligibility, please contact volunteer@leduc.ca

What type of device is required for this software? 
Volunteer Leduc Better Impact is accessible with any device (computer, smart tablet, mobile phone) with an Internet connection. The tool can be viewed through a web browser or by downloading a free app called “My Impact” from the Apple Store or Google Play Store. 

What if I don’t have access to the Internet? 
To view the most current and up to date information, Internet access is required (i.e., schedules, new opportunities). If you do not have access to the Internet at home, please visit the Leduc Public Library for free computer access or schedule an appointment with Volunteer Leduc for assistance. Where can I volunteer?
Opportunities include church groups, community clubs, recreational groups, health facilities, non-profit agencies and social services.

What skills or qualifications do I need to volunteer?
Most opportunities require your enthusiasm, motivation and passion. Any specific skill or qualifications are identified in the volunteer job posting.

Do I have to volunteer for a specific number of hours?
No. How much you volunteer depends on you and your schedule.

How old do I have to be to volunteer?
Those under 18 years of age require permission from a parent or guardian to participate in volunteering.

How do I get signed up as volunteer?  
To sign up with Volunteer Leduc Better Impact as a volunteer, please complete an application form through the volunteer portal. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a welcome email. As you browse volunteer opportunities, please keep in mind that some may require mandatory training, documentation and screening. 

If I want to volunteer for a specific program/activity or event, who do I contact? 
If you are not a member of Volunteer Leduc, please sign up and create a profile in the online system. Once you have an account, you can apply for any position that you are eligible for. Once you’ve applied, you will be directed to the event organizer. 

Will the system send a notification to me when a new volunteer opportunity comes up? Is there an alert system?
Yes, emails and push notifications will be distributed when a new opportunity comes out. You can also unsubscribe from this feature at any time.
