Our pay scales are competitive and reflective of job responsibilities. For the majority of positions, the salary ranges are posted at the top of each job posting.

Benefit-eligible positions are offered a benefits plan that includes dental and extended health care coverage for you and your family. The group plan covers, but is not limited to, prescription drugs, vision care, life and disability insurance, and paramedical practitioners. In addition, the plan also provides eligible employees with a set annual dollar amount and the choice to assign that amount to a health spending account, a wellness spending account, or a combination of the two.

Eligible positions participate in the Local Authorities Pension Plan, a defined benefit pension plan that provides members with a set pension or fixed income for their lifetime once they retire.

The City of Leduc offers flexible work options that contribute to productivity while helping employees balance work and other responsibilities. The options available will vary depending on the type of work involved.

An employee works more hours per day paid at the regular rate of pay, averaged out over an averaging period, which can be from one to 52 weeks. This generates regularly scheduled days off for the employee.

An employee works additional hours during scheduled days (overtime, hour for hour) in exchange for a scheduled day off, paid at the employee’s regular rate of pay.

Some positions may be eligible to work from home for a portion of the work week. A working from home arrangement is voluntary, and occurs on regularly scheduled work days. Technology is used to maintain appropriate connectivity and access. Working from home must take place from an approved designated home workspace.

At the City of Leduc, we strongly believe in supporting the training and development of our employees and in helping them grow in their careers. Ongoing employee training helps maintain our ability to provide services to our residents while at the same time developing the skills necessary to develop new and innovative service levels.

Each year, the City offers a variety of free online and in-person training and development courses. Additionally, the City offers an educational assistance program and reimbursement for professional membership fees, which are required by a professional association to maintain a professional status (e.g., PEng, CPHR).

Employees work with their supervisors to put together an annual work plan that helps guide them in developing their interests and achieving their professional goals.

The City of Leduc cares about the health and well-being of its employees. The City offers all employees access to an Employee and Family Assistance Program through Homewood Health at no cost. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this confidential service provides employees and their dependents access to professional counselling, coaching, and support/referrals to appropriate community service programs.

Critical illness coverage offers financial help to pay the costs associated with life-altering illnesses. A benefit is paid if someone insured by the plan is diagnosed with a covered critical illness (conditions may apply). This is an optional addition to the group benefits plan and spousal coverage is also available.

Other

Annually, the City offers eligible employees a specific dollar amount that can be credited to a health spending and/or a wellness spending account. The employee chooses whether they want the amount to go to health spending, wellness spending, or a combination of the two accounts.

The health spending account complements the group benefits plan. Employees can use their credits to pay for eligible medical and dental expenses not covered by the group plan or provincial health care. Claims made to the health spending account are non-taxable.

The wellness spending account supports an employee’s holistic health and wellness. Employees can use their credits to pay for services in the following areas: physical health, mental health, emotional health, career development, personal wellness and quality of life. In practice, this can include items ranging from fitness equipment and activities to family and pet care (and more!). Claims made to the wellness spending account are a taxable benefit.

*The health and wellness spending accounts do not apply to IAFF employees.

The Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) is a defined benefit pension plan funded by member and employer contributions and investment earnings. The plan helps you prepare for your retirement because you can estimate your future pension income. LAPP provides a specified lifetime income upon retirement, regardless of market conditions and how long you live. It may also provide survivor benefits.
