The City of Leduc displays flags at City facilities and on City property. The Flags Bylaw provides clarity and direction on the use of the flagpoles and display of flags.

Community Flag Poles
Community organizations can apply to fly a flag on one of the community flagpoles in Alexandra Park (on the west side of the Civic Centre) by:
- Reviewing the Flags Bylaw
- Submitting an email request to [email protected]
The City Council decides whether to approve or deny flag requests.
Requests will not be approved for any group whose mandate or activities are believed to discriminate against or otherwise incite or encourage discrimination against any individual or group.
Half-Mast Flags
Flags are sometimes flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning following the death of a person specified in the bylaw or to observe a special day, including:
- April 9: National Day of Remembrance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge
- April 28: National Day of Mourning for Those Who Have Suffered and Died in the Workplace
- June 23: National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism
- The second Sunday in September: Firefighters’ National Memorial Day
- The last Sunday in September: Police and Peace Officers National Memorial Day
- Sept. 30: National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
- Nov. 11: Remembrance Day
- Dec. 6: National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
