FAQ

Visit www.leduc.ca/getcertified for information on how to become certified as a swim instructor.

The Aquatic Centre offers swim lessons for all ages and abilities, occurring either once or twice a week. When you choose LRC Aquatic Centre swim programs, your child will receive proven, age-appropriate learning through games, songs and drills, with a focus on safety, comfort, and love of aquatic environments.

We also offer drop-in and registered aquatic fitness classes,  lifeguarding, and swim instructor programs.

Swimming Lesson Policies

To keep our classes safe and fun for everyone:

  • Please help the Lifeguards and Instructors ensure everyone’s safety by keeping your children close at hand IN and OUT of the water before and after your lessons.
  • Public swim is not available during lessons. If you wish to swim before or after your lessons, please see the Public Swim Schedule for available times.
  • If you would like to participate in your child’s lesson on parent day, please make arrangements with another parent for any additional children on this day.

If you've taken swimming lessons elsewhere

If you are new to the Lifesaving Society Canada programs but have taken swimming lessons with another organization, you may be able to pick up where you left off.

Swim Evaluations

Take the guesswork out of registration. In just 10 minutes, an instructor can assess your child's skill level and suggest the class level that's right for them. The fee includes a drop-in single admission to LRC. When utilizing this admission, if the swimmer being evaluated is under 8 years of age, a responsible supervisor age 14 or older will be required to purchase a wristband and swim with them as per our active supervision policy.

To set up, speak with a Guest Services representative to get in touch with an Aquatic staff member or email aquaticprograms@leduc.ca to request an available time.

Your child's progress

Please remember that your child's progress is not necessarily indicated by their completion or incompletion of a level.  Our experienced instructors focus on ensuring class safety as well as properly developing your child's swimming skills.  More than one attempt at a level may be required.
