2025 Municipal Election Season Has Begun

Thursday, January 9, 2025

The 2025 municipal election season has begun in the City of Leduc. The election on Oct. 20 will determine who will serve on City Council for the next four-year term.

In total, Council is comprised of six councillors and one mayor; each is elected at-large. This means that our mayor and councillors represent the entire population of the City of Leduc, rather than a geographical ward as seen in larger municipalities like Edmonton or Calgary. Elections for school board trustees for the two school divisions in Leduc will be held at the same time.

Information about the election will be regularly provided through the City’s official communication channels, including our election website where key details are/will be available for candidates, voters and election workers.

Key dates and information:

  • Candidate registration is now open. Candidates can submit nomination paperwork to the Returning Officer at the Leduc Civic Centre by-appointment until Sept. 19. On Sept. 22, paperwork will be accepted without appointment until 12 p.m.

  • To be ready to vote, please confirm your information is correct with Elections Alberta, from which the City receives its list of eligible voters. Voter eligibility and identification requirements are available online
