The location, which was approved during a City Council meeting on Jan. 22, was selected based on responses to a public survey conducted by the City in Aug. and Sept. In total, 433 people participated in the survey. Other location options included Harry Bienert Park and Suntree Greenspace.
Survey Result Highlights:
- 52% of respondents supported Deer Valley Gardens as the park location.
- 82% of respondents are dog owners.
- 60% of respondents said they had visited an off-leash area in the last year.
When opened, the off-leash dog park will be fenced with double gate entrances and have waste receptacles throughout.
Additional public feedback about the success and impact of the dog park will be gathered in the fall of 2024.
There are three other off-leash dog parks in Leduc: The K-9 Off-leash dog park, Barclay Park off-leash dog park, and Outlook Park.
