Leduc’s traffic safety program is strengthened by a collaborative partnership between Leduc Enforcement Services and the Leduc RCMP.

This program aims to reduce collisions and ensure safer roads within the city and its surrounding areas.

Distracted Driving

On Jan. 1, 2016, the provincial Distracted Driving Law came into effect with a penalty of $287 and three demerit points.

If a motorist creates a serious collision while driving distracted, they can expect a $543 ticket, with six demerit points for careless driving.

Community Safety Initiatives

Leduc Enforcement Services plays a vital role in enhancing road safety through its comprehensive traffic safety programs.

  • The use of speed awareness signs to educate drivers and encourage compliance with speed limits. Officers focus on enforcing regulations related to utility trailers, RVs, quads, and heavy vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards.
  • In partnership with Alberta Health nurses, child seat safety checks are conducted to help parents and caregivers properly install and use car seats.
  • Bicycle safety clinics are held to promote safe riding practices and improve awareness of road-sharing rules.
  • Enforcement efforts also target stop signs and traffic violations, complemented by routine patrols to maintain a consistent presence and address unsafe behaviours on Leduc’s roads.

These initiatives collectively aim to create a safer and more responsible driving culture in the community.
