Leduc Arts Foundry

The Leduc Arts Foundry is a not-for-profit society that works with the City via a collaborative service delivery partnership. The Foundry provides services and opportunities on behalf of the City to establish a diverse and inclusive arts collaborative within Leduc, delivering authentic artistic experiences to our community with the help of passionate, community-based artisans.

These services and opportunities include: 

  • Community Arts Programming - free, accessible, fully inclusive and consistently scheduled arts programming for community members in Leduc
  • Special Event Activation - free and accessible special event arts programming or activation
  • Community Leadership - coordinate and deliver presentations, develop and host resources, facilitate meetings, working groups and cross-sector partnerships
  • Artist Opportunity - encourage and build processes, structures and supports to ensure access and viability of artistic labour through practices
  • Public Art Collaboration - participate in the co-creation and shared stewardship of a comprehensive Art in Public Spaces program that both showcases local talent and facilitates large scale installations through activities. 

The Leduc Arts Foundry provides affordable access to inclusive creative spaces, tools and quality educational programs that stimulate and nurture diverse artistic and cultural development. 

Leduc Art Club

Founded in the 1960s by Elsie John, the Leduc Art Club was formally incorporated in May 1983 as a non-profit organization. Driven by local artists with varying art backgrounds with a common goal in keeping a thriving arts presence in the community, the Leduc Art Club aims to share different forms of art that entices to engage both youths and adults.  With an integral belief that culture is important to a sustainable community, they offer the citizens of Leduc an opportunity to keep art alive by learning new skills, furthering one’s talents, meet other artists, and showcase historic and new art. 

The Leduc Art Club participates with City of Leduc events; Frostival, Culture Days, Seniors Week, Party in the Park, Summer Games, Leduc Arts Foundry - Art Walk, Alberta Community Art Clubs Association, Our Annual Aspiring Young Artists Competition Show and Sale, Boys and Girls Club – Festival of Trees, Santa Claus Parade.

Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts

Leduc's Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts is a venue for concerts, theatrical performances and special events in Leduc and Leduc County.

With 460 seats, the Maclab Centre hosts performances from both local artists and organizations, such as the Leduc Drama Society and the Stageworks Academy of the Performing Arts, as well as world-renowned performers. The Maclab Centre is located at the south end of the Leduc Composite High School, with an entrance from Corinthia Drive.

Dr. Woods House 

One of the area's first doctors, Dr. Robert Woods, settled west of Leduc in 1902. He built this home, with an attached medical wing, in 1927. The medical wing has been fully restored, with interior restoration and furnishings representative of the art deco period. The house itself features a Craftsman-style design, with a low-pitched roof, fieldstone chimney and extensive interior woodworking.

The Dr. Woods House Museum, which was operated by the Leduc & District Historical Society, is closed. Following the Society's decision to close the museum and end their lease of the Dr. Woods House, the City of Leduc will continue to maintain th historic property. Although the museum will no longer be open for regular public access, the City will explore partnership opportunities with the Society and other community groups to offer heritage and cultural programming in the building. The City of Leduc is committed to the vital work of heritage preservation, and as ownership of the museum collection transfers to the city, we will establish an inventory of the collection and ensure it is managed according to best practices set out by the Alberta Museums Association, the Canadian Museums Association, and the International Council of Museums.
