The museum was opened in 1997 to honor the original location of the historic 1947 Leduc #1, an oil strike that changed the face of oil production in Alberta. Since opening, the museum has grown (and continues to grow) as an interpretive center showing the unique heritage and technology of energy industries in Alberta and Canada. We offer visitors opportunities to learn more about energy heritage through engaging exhibits, interactive activities, and incredible material culture, machines, and artifacts.
