24-hour snow removal begins on Wednesday

Tuesday, January 25, 2022

Beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 26, Leduc snow removal crews are changing to a 24-hour schedule to complete neighbourhoods faster. The removal of parked cars from the communities when signs are posted will help crews remove snow quickly and efficiently as possible.

The trade-offs in order to clear neighbourhoods quickly will result in windrows being left on streets – with only emergency access points cleared – and to be picked up at on a later date. Residents may also experience noise disturbances during the night as crews work around the clock, which crews will do their best to minimize.

“The changing weather conditions and large amounts of snow has contributed to a slower than normal pace for snow removal this year,” says Director of Public Services, Rick Sereda. “We have heard from residents about the difficulties the melting and freezing of snow has caused on the roads and how it impacts the mobility in and out of the neighbourhood.”

The City of Leduc appreciates the continued patience and cooperation of residents. Issues can be reported through the City’s SeeClickFix app.

As snow removal crews begin their rotation, residents can follow the website for updates.
