50 St. QEII off-ramp closes on Apr. 6 as interchange work continues
Starting the evening of Apr. 6, the southbound off-ramp from the QEII highway onto 50 St. will be closed until the completion of the 65 Ave. and QEII Interchange Project which is anticipated to be completed in 2025. Southbound motorists can enter the City of Leduc using the Airport Rd or 50 Ave. off-ramp.
The closure marks the start of bridge reconfiguration work to align the existing bridge with the new bridge. Once complete, travelling in both directions will be possible.
Construction work also expected for the interchange project this year includes:
- The final lift of asphalt on 50 St., 65 Ave. and on the 64 Ave. off-ramp
- Work to continue on the airport side of the QEII with road work, new on and off-ramps, and a roundabout
- Bridge work to resume with the placement of girders followed by the construction of the bridge deck
The multi-year project will support safety and ease of movement of people and goods upon completion. It will stimulate continued economic development through investment growth, job creation, and diversification in our community.
