City of Leduc invests in Route 747 for easier travel
The City of Leduc will invest in the Route 747 bus service, cutting wait times in half during off-peak hours — making travel between Leduc and Edmonton more convenient. With buses running every 30 minutes instead of every hour, the increased frequency will benefit Leduc Transit riders connecting between Leduc’s Route 10 and Route 747 by:
- Adding one more evening trip for riders with a timelier connection schedule that reduces wait times thereby decreasing travel time
- Making it more convenient to travel around the region with more service options
The improvement costs will be shared between the City of Leduc, City of Edmonton, and Leduc County as part of the Airport Accord Agreement; the City of Leduc will contribute an additional $40,000 annually. If all cost shares are approved this budget season, service is anticipated to begin spring 2025.
Currently, 27 per cent of Leduc transit riders (on average 3,500 riders per month) take Route 10 to connect with Route 747 at the Edmonton International Airport and then ride onwards to their destination in Edmonton.
To support this upgrade, Edmonton will purchase new buses to ensure a reliable service at the new 30-minute frequency.
