Clean Energy Improvement Program Now Open

Monday, May 30, 2022

City of Leduc residential property owners interested in making energy efficiency or renewable energy upgrades to their homes can finance these renovations through their property tax bill with the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP). Start lowering your utility bills and enhancing property value today. Eligible property owners can start by reviewing the program terms and conditions and completing the pre-qualification form.

The four-year pilot program provides an innovative financing option that is tied to the property instead of the residential property owner. If the property is sold, the new owner can assume repayment (and enjoys the benefits!). Applicants who complete a CEIP project will be eligible for a $1,350 incentive rebate that goes towards reducing their total financing amount. The CEIP is administered by Alberta Municipalities and funded by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

An Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate Program (ECRP) is also available when combined with a completed CEIP project. Administered by the City of Leduc, owners who install a Level 2 electric vehicle charging station can claim the lesser of $600, or up to 50 percent of the installed cost.

CEIP applications, along with rebates, are received and processed on a first-come, first-served basis with limited spots available each year.
