Closure at 44th Street and 47 Avenue re-opens in Leduc

On June 26, Leduc City Council voted to not permanently close the road at the corner of 44th Street and 47th Avenue after a two-year pilot project. The road has been re-opened. 

The closure had been put in place in December 2021 as a traffic calming measure, restricting access to Lede Park in the South Telford neighbourhood. 

Timeline of pilot project: 

• June 26, 2023: Decision was made to re-open the road 
• June 26, 2023: What We Heard Report was presented to City Council 
• March 13–May 1, 2023: Public engagement with 47th Avenue residents was conducted 
• Oct. 24, 2022: City Administration was directed to survey residents living on 47th Avenue 
• Dec. 1, 2021: Temporary road closure went into effect 
• Nov. 8, 2021: Two-year pilot was approved
