Drive safe this holiday season
Motorists in Leduc are reminded to enjoy the holiday season safely and responsibly.
Last Friday, the City’s Enforcement and Fire Services partnered with MADD, Victim Services and the Leduc RCMP to hold its annual Candy Cane Checkstop, reminding motorists in our community to drive safely this holiday and winter season.
Leduc's elementary School Resource Officer is also supporting this message by leading a liquor bag campaign where Leduc’s grade 5 students learn about the importance of responsible driving decisions and decorate paper bags, which are then provided to local liquor stores for use during December as an extra reminder for customers to make safe transportation decisions.
Whether you’re headed to a holiday party or are out and about like usual, please keep the following driving tips in mind to help make sure you – and everyone else on the road – make it home safe.
- Be alert and responsive when behind the wheel.
- Refrain from any activities that impair your judgement or ability to drive.
- Plan a safe ride home. Use public transit, a taxi or a designated driver.
- Clear snow and ice from your windshield and lights for better visibility.
- Pay attention to road conditions and safety warnings and keep an emergency kit in your trunk.
- If the weather is bad, consider revising your plans so you won’t have to travel on icy or snowy roads.
Happy holidays, Leduc – stay safe!
