Emergency preparedness in Leduc
In recognition of Emergency Preparedness Week, from May 5-11, Leduc residents are reminded to prepare for emergencies while the risk is low so you're ready to respond when the risk is high.
This includes knowing where to find current, accurate and credible information during an emergency, which is critical to making informed decisions and protecting your family. Look for information on the Alberta Emergency Alert (AEA) system, and the City of Leduc's website, social media channels and e-news platform.
The City of Leduc works year-round to prepare for potential emergencies and disasters. A key part of the City's emergency response and public safety effort is providing prompt, accurate communication to the community.
When lives are in immediate or imminent danger, the City of Leduc will send an alert through the AEA system, describing the threat and action required. For example, a significant wildfire that requires evacuation or if the water supply were to become contaminated. Subsequent updates - or information on less urgent situations - will be provided on the City's website, social media channels and e-news platform.
To prepare now, residents are encouraged to:
- Download the AEA app
- Follow the City of Leduc on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter)
- Subscribe to the City's e-news platform
- Build an emergency kit
