Get ready for snow removal season with these tips

Monday, October 28, 2024

As winter approaches, the City of Leduc reminds residents to get ready for colder weather and upcoming snow removal operations. Snow removal begins as soon as conditions require. With a few steps, you can ensure that your household is winter-ready and help keep our roads safe and clear.

For homeowners:

  • Remove rubber driveway/curb pads, basketball nets, or anything near the curb
  • Keep fire hydrant areas clear of snow
  • Shovel snow onto your yard, not the road
  • Use free sand and chip the nearest bin to make sidewalks safer
  • Report issues with the SeeClickFix app

For drivers:

See which parking ban(s) affect you and where you’ll park when it comes time to move your vehicle. Parking can resume on the street once the snow and windrows have been cleared. Parked vehicles will be tagged ($250 fine) and towed to the nearest cleared road. Here is what to expect with each parking ban:

Seasonal parking ban

Residential snow removal parking ban

  • Permanent snow route signs are installed along the street
  • Temporary signs (no dates) are posted
  • Find parking on nearby residential roads
  • General residential roads (Priority 4 – purple) are smaller side streets and cul-de-sacs in neighbourhood areas
  • Notice is given 48 hours before snow removal begins
  • Temporary signs (with dates) are posted at neighbourhood entrances
  • Find parking on the nearest collector roads
