Green cart inspections ramping up in Leduc this spring
To support residents in sorting smart and to help prevent cart and truck contamination, green cart inspections in Leduc will ramp up between May 30 and June 10.
While most residents do a great job of sorting correctly, some still put plastics in their green cart. This contaminates entire truckloads of organics that then need to be landfilled at a higher cost, rather than repurposed into valuable compost.
During green cart inspections, contaminated green carts will not be collected. Residents will be informed of the specific issue with and information tag left on the cart.
GFL, the City's contractor, conducts green cart inspections. They can be identified by their bright green shirts.
