City of Leduc announces new inclusive playground in community
The City of Leduc will build its most inclusive playground this summer and invites the community to weigh in on playground design and layout later this month.
Public input about the inclusive playground, to be located at Willow Park School, will be gathered by the City on Jan. 31 at the Leduc Recreation Centre between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
"The City of Leduc is thrilled to help fund Leduc's most inclusive recreation structure," says Leduc Mayor Bob Young. "The new playground located in the Willow Park School area will allow all children from all over Leduc the ability to play, laugh, and feel included during recess, lunch, and outside of school hours with their peers and classmates."
The playground location was announced on Jan. 19 at a general assembly at Willow Park School by City of Leduc Mayor Bob Young, Willow Park School Principal Greg Luchak, and Black Gold School Division Board Trustees Angie Charpentier, Barb Martinson, Gary Hansen, and Associate Superintendent Norm Dargis.
The City awarded Select Engineering Consulting (SEC) firm the contract to help assess the viability of each proposed location and to help design and build the playground. SEC have successfully completed more than 700 projects in 114 communities.
