Leduc Mayor issues statement on approval of Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion by the Federal Government
City of Leduc Mayor, Bob Young, issued the following statement in response to the federal government’s announcement that they have approved the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion.
“I am pleased to see that the Government of Canada has taken action to support Alberta’s energy industry and Albertans as a whole. This news could not have come at a better time, and it is a much-needed boost for those hard-working Albertans in the oil and gas industry who have been hit hard by the economic downturn.
This announcement is a relief for many Leduc residents who work in the Leduc and Nisku Business Parks, which have strong ties to the oil and gas industry. Today’s approval of the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion gives them hope that long-term recovery is on the horizon and that their concerns have been heard by all levels of government.
The sooner we can get shovels in the ground, the better it will be for all Canadians. On behalf of the City of Leduc, I thank the Federal Government for making this decision and showing their support for our oil and gas industry.”
