Leduc Mayor issues statement on Leduc Regional Fire Services initiative

Wednesday, July 4, 2018

City of Leduc Mayor Bob Young released the following statement today regarding Leduc County Council’s decision on the Leduc Regional Fire Services initiative:

“Although full implementation of the Leduc Regional Fire Services initiative will not be going forward, we are pleased to see there are a number of areas within the initiative that we will continue to work on with Leduc County to strengthen fire services in the region.

“The areas the County has outlined for potential collaboration, including regional fire prevention and investigations, regional fire training and alignment of Standard Operating procedures and guidelines, are part of establishing a comprehensive approach to the region’s fire services. We look forward to hearing from Leduc County so that we continue in the long-standing history of collaboration that our two municipalities share.

“I want to express my appreciation to both the administration and fire services staff with the City and County for their hard work over the years to develop the Leduc Regional Fire Services initiative plan. We have a great deal to be proud of, and I am confident that we can continue to build on that as we move forward.”
