Nominate now for Citizens of Distinction awards
The City is calling on residents to nominate someone they know in Leduc who has made exceptional contributions to our community.
Citizens of Distinction award categories available for nomination include:
- Athletic Achievement Award: coaches, mentors, or community volunteers whose contributions to our sports and recreation community have brought positive recognition to Leduc
- Arts, Culture, and Heritage Recognition Award: contributions that have fostered growth and success in Leduc's arts, culture, or heritage communities
- Environmental Award: inspiring dedication to environmental conservation, protection and enhancement
- Community Spirit Award: leadership and community service that has gone above and beyond to benefit and inspire fellow citizens
- Youth Award of Merit: leadership and positive impact on peers, neighbourhood or school (16 years of age or under)
"We are proud of the great contributions residents make to Leduc and believe it's important to recognize and celebrate their successes and achievements," says City of Leduc Mayor Bob Young. "I encourage everyone to nominate a family member, friend, neighbour, teammate, mentor, student or any other person or group who has made a positive impact in our community."
Nominations are reviewed and awarded by the City's Citizen Recognition Committee. Recipients will be presented with their awards at Leduc's annual VolunteerFest event in the fall.
Last year, seven Citizens of Distinction awards were presented. Since the program's inception in 1998, a total of 131 awards have been presented to individuals, groups or organizations who have made positive contributions to Leduc.
