Residents pleased with quality of life in Leduc

Results from the 2021 Citizen Satisfaction Survey were presented to City Council on Monday, June 28, showing that 95 per cent of residents are pleased with the quality of life in Leduc and consider maintaining infrastructure and managing growth to be the top civic priorities in 2021.

Results of the 2022 Budget Planning Survey were also presented and indicate that 71 per cent of respondents rated perceived value received for taxes paid as good, very good or excellent.

“The City of Leduc is pleased to offer a variety of services and amenities to residents and business owners, and we are proud that citizens continue to enjoy a high quality of life in our community despite COVID-19 and the challenges it has presented,” says Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “The people who live and work in Leduc have demonstrated incredible resilience and community spirit.”

In total, 401 participants completed the Citizen Satisfaction Survey from March 2 ̶ 30, and 485 participants took part in the annual Budget Planning Survey from May 1 ̶ 31.

Survey Result Highlights

  • That the most significant factors contributing to a high quality of life in the community are its size, parks and trail network, services and community spirit. These top-rated services were also identified as providing the highest value for tax dollar.
  • The majority of respondents say Leduc is on the right track, and recommend keeping budgets the same next year.
  • 37 per cent of citizens reported they need access to community resources, help coping with challenges and/or financial supports. This focus area received the most support for a budget increase next year.
