Secondary suite addressing now available in Leduc
Homeowners with unaddressed legal secondary suites on their property can now apply for a mailing address for their suite through the City of Leduc. Through this process, a permanent address will be assigned to secondary suites (e.g., in-law or granny suites) that are properly permitted and Code compliant.
Homeowners who develop a secondary suite in the future will be provided a secondary address when they apply for their development permits.
“The safety of our residents will always be our top priority, and having dwellings properly registered and addressed is paramount in allowing our emergency services to respond quickly and efficiently,” says City of Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “By indicating that there is a secondary dwelling on the property, responders have more information during an emergency where seconds can save lives.”
Homeowners should be aware that applying for suite addressing is voluntary and may require an inspection. If a unit is found to not be Code compliant, property owners may be required to bring the suite into compliance at their own cost.
