Sparking creativity to help celebrate Culture Days in Leduc
Building community, inspiring creativity and celebrating how Leduc’s quality of life is enhanced through arts, culture and heritage is the city’s focus for this year’s Culture Days, between Sept. 24 to Oct. 24, 2021.
“Culture reflects the times and lands where traditions and innovations emerge and is intertwined into every aspect of our lives. says Donna Brock, director of Community and Social Development with the City of Leduc. “Culture Days in Leduc speaks to how we can support our community partners in how they see themselves reflected in the community’s identity, values, beliefs and heritage.”
Community events will be held throughout the four weeks and hosted by a number of organizations. If your business or organization is planning an event as part of Culture Days, please submit your event information on the city’s website at: www.leduc.ca/culturedaysevent
New to this year’s Culture Days is the On this Spot app featuring a walking and driving tour through Leduc’s history. At each stop users will find themselves standing on the spot a historic photo was taken. They can view a ‘then and now’ photo comparison, read about people, places, and experiences in the photos, and even use the built-in camera to capture their own ‘then and now’ shot. Acknowledging that not all individuals or groups have the time to read a long historical brief, each tour stop has a quick description, as well as a more in-depth information. The app is available through the App Store and on Google Play. Visit https://onthisspot.ca/cities/leduc to learn more.
“Culture Days in Leduc is designed for every resident to explore, learn, create and celebrate what arts, culture and heritage mean to them. It’s a great way to learn more about your community, then and now,” says Brock.
