Three community parks to receive new names

Tuesday, April 13, 2021

On Apr. 12, 2021, Council approved the naming of three community parks, in recognition of long-serving community members who have made significant, positive contributions to Leduc.

  • John Jackie Park: The municipal reserve green space in Blackstone, including park space with a skating rink and playground
  • Roesch Park: The municipal reserve green space in Meadowview, including a small park (named after Ron Roesch)
  • Dennis Nosyk Park: The municipal reserve green space in Meadowview, including a larger forested area off Gaetz Road

These naming recommendations were put forward by the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Board. The naming of parks typically reflects (but is not limited to) noteworthy persons that are deceased, or former Councillors or Mayors no sooner than one year after their term.

More details regarding recognition and the unveiling of the new park names will be provided at a later date.
