City celebrates Environment Week

The City of Leduc is pleased to celebrate Environment Week, which will be recognized nationally from May 31 to June 4 this year.

“Doing our part to raise awareness around Environment Week directly aligns with the city’s ongoing efforts to champion environmental action,” says City of Leduc Coun. Lars Hansen. “Evidenced through many initiatives and programs offered to our community each year, we continuously strive to protect our natural and built environments and enhance the unique natural features that residents enjoy in Leduc.” 

Area residents and business owners are encouraged to connect with nature and consider taking part in the following environmentally-focused initiatives, which are currently underway at the city:

• Backyard Hens and Bees Pilot Program
• Spring Bird Count
• Sort Correctly using Recycle Coach, the city’s online waste sorting app to dispose of household items
• Pollinator Garden Challenge

Clean Air Day

As part of Environment Week, Leduc Transit and LATS will also offer free service on Wednesday, June 2, to transit riders to help encourage alternate forms of transportation that contribute to good air quality.
