The City of Leduc is updating its Strategic Plan and we want to hear from residents, the business community and all stakeholders on how we can continue to offer a high quality of life, be a caring community and contribute to a thriving region. Once approved, the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan will be a guiding document for Leduc for the next four years and will identify areas of focus, strategies and performance measures that will help us meet the needs of our community.

What is a Strategic Plan?
Strategic Plans provide the roadmap for a community – outlining the vision, goals, and strategic priorities. Leduc’s Strategic Plan identifies council’s strategic priorities for the next four years and things that we know are important to everyone in Leduc. Currently, these priorities are focused on economic prosperity; exceptional municipal programs, services and infrastructure; a high quality of life, environmental sustainability and sound governance.
What is in a Strategic Plan?
The 2023-2026 Strategic Plan is a community document and will feature a vision, goals, strategies and performance measures.

- Mission: People. Building. Community
- Council Focus Areas: The areas of focus to guide decision making and implementation activities over the next four years.
- Strategies: What we need to pay attention to help us make progress on each goal. These are the things we need to invest in or take action on over the next four years
Why is the City updating the Strategic Plan?
The Strategic Plan is updated every four years. The current Strategic Plan was developed for 2019-2022. We have started the process to create an updated plan that will guide our work between 2023 and 2026.
What is being considered in developing the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan?
Input from members of the public, City staff and City Council will be considered in the development of the plan. Additionally, the City will consider information including in various municipal plans and master plans as listed above.
What is included in public engagement?
Members of the public will be asked to provide input on what needs focus over the next four years to move us closer to our vision for Leduc – a great life, a caring draft goals and priorities for the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.
What is not included in public engagement?
The update to the Strategic Plan will not include revising the City’s vision statement or mission. Performance measures will be designed once focus areas and priorities are identified.
How are decision made for the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan?
City Council is responsible for setting the vision, goals and priorities that will meet the needs of the community. They are guided by recommendations from City staff.
What are the next steps following public engagement?
Following completion of the survey, the outcomes of the engagement will be shared with the community through a What We Heard Summary posted to the City’s website.
How will input from public engagement be used?
City Council will consider all input, including engagement, as they work towards finalizing the Strategic Plan. Once approved, the Strategic Plan will be made available publicly on the City website in 2022.
