City of Leduc announces new Fire Chief
Bryan Singleton will join the City of Leduc, September 26 as the Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Management.
After a national search and rigorous competition that included more than 25 applications from across the country, and five short-listed candidates, Leduc Fire Services will move forward under a leader, Bryan Singleton, who brings years of experience at the municipal and provincial level.
“We are pleased with the overwhelming response and number of quality candidates from across Canada that showed interest in this position and working at the City of Leduc,” says Derek Prohar, City Manager in the City of Leduc. “It was certainly a difficult decision to make but we are confident in our selection and look forward to Bryan joining us next month.”
Bryan has held senior leadership roles with the City of Edmonton Fire Services and EMS, the provincial government, where he was accountable for EMS legislation, regulation and policy development; and with Alberta Health Services. He started his career in the field as a Primary and Advanced Care Paramedic and a Paramedic Clinical Educator. Most recently he has held the position of Deputy Fire Chief, Technical Services with the City of Edmonton, where he was responsible for the Emergency Response Communications Centre, emergency systems technology, strategic planning, accreditation, and environmental management.
Experienced in master and strategic planning for two major municipal emergency services, Bryan has developed productive relationships and partnerships with employees, unions, elected officials, administrators and industry partners. He values healthy and effective leadership teams and has implemented change and cultural transformation to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion in the profession.
This hire marks a milestone for Leduc Fire Services. Bryan will join a Fire Services team that has worked hard over the last six months, under acting chief, Broderick Moore, to restore a positive workplace. The team is well positioned for continued success.
