Six electric vehicle charging stations added at the Leduc Recreation Centre

The City of Leduc announced today that four level-two and two level-three electric vehicle (EV) FLO charging stations were installed at the Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC) in the East lot and are now operational for residents and visitors. 

The new EV charging stations at the LRC cost $200,000 which was paid entirely by a grant received from the Municipal Climate Change Action Committee. Similar to the charging stations at 4821 50th Ave., the FLO charging stations will draw power from the LRC rooftop solar panels and will be free to use for users. 

“We’re excited to be able to provide our residents and visitors with more options to charge their electric vehicle while they’re visiting the Leduc Recreation Centre,” said Leduc Mayor Bob Young. “The data we’ve collected shows us that there is a great demand for EV charging in Leduc, and we’re constantly looking at how we can provide this service for our residents.”

With the addition of the new charging stations, it brings the total number of City-owned EV charging stations to ten. This includes the four EV chargers (two-level 2, two-level 3) that were installed in late 2022 which draws its power from rooftop solar carport and provides residents and visitors free access to charging their EV while they stay, eat, and shop in downtown Leduc. The solar carport project was funded by the City of Leduc, Natural Resources Canada, and Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC).
