Reminder: Stay off and away from unsafe ice
Residents in Leduc are urged to stay off stormwater ponds and Telford Lake; please remember these ice surfaces are not safe for recreational activities, including skating and hockey.
These bodies of water have fluctuating water depth that may not freeze solid. While the surfaces may look safe to skate or play hockey on, there is a high risk for the ice to unexpectantly break and for people to fall through into freezing water.
There may also be weak spots or thin patches that are not noticeable to the seeing eye. This puts everyone at risk, including emergency responders if an incident occurs.
Where to skate in Leduc
The City of Leduc maintains numerous recreational outdoor ice surfaces for residents and visitors to use between the hours of 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. The status of these ice surfaces is regularly updated online; all skating surfaces are currently open.
