Celebrate Environment Week June 3 - 7
Residents are invited to promote Leduc’s green, clean and healthy community by participating in Canadian Environment Week June 3 – 7. Eco-friendly events happening around the city include:
Spring Bird Count: step outside, enjoy nature and get to know Leduc’s feathered friends. Download your tally sheet and guide book online, and spend 30 minutes during the week tracking your sightings. All participants are entered into a random prize draw.
Clean Air Day: Leduc Transit and LATS are once again offering free service on June 5 to encourage alternate forms of transportation that contribute to good air quality. Take advantage of this opportunity to try out Leduc Transit’s new Route 10, which travels to Nisku Costco, POCEIA, EIA and Leduc Common.
Leduc Pollinator Garden: for the third year, Leduc Environmental Advisory Board (LEAB), The City of Leduc, Leduc-Nisku Rotary Club and Communities in Bloom Leduc are planting pollinator-friendly bushes, shrubs and trees at the Leduc Pollinator Garden near the Telford Lake Community Gardens. This year, planting has been made possible with support from Tree Canada and Pembina.
June is also Recreation and Parks Month in Canada, and residents in Leduc are encouraged to enjoy the outdoors and participate in a number of community events.
