ALBERTA INNOVATES TECHNOLOGY FUTURES
With a mandate to help build healthy, sustainable businesses in the province, AITF deliver s programs and services directed towards entrepreneurs, companies, researchers and investors. Emphasizing the development of new technologies in bio, health, energy, environment, and technology solutions, AITF brings expertise, mentoring and financial assistance to its program delivery. 

INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (IRAP)
IRAP provides technical and business advisory services related to R&D, including strategic intelligence, and customized solutions to fit business needs.

ALBERTA EXPORT EXPANSION PACKAGE (AEEP)
AEEP supports Alberta businesses looking to enter new international markets. The $3 million in funding a year over three years is divided between three new programs:
1. The Export Support Fund
2. The Global Investors and Buyers Program
3. The Export Readiness Program


Tax Incentives

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTAL DEVELOPMENT (SR&ED) INVESTMENT TAX CREDIT (ITC)
The SR&ED tax incentive is a federal program that encourages businesses of all sizes and in all sectors to conduct research and development. Any Canadian-controlled private corporation (CCPC) can deduct SR&ED expenditures for income tax purposes and companies can earn ITC’s to reduce income tax payable.

CAPITAL INVESTMENT TAX CREDIT (CITC)
Via the Alberta Jobs Program, companies that invest in buildings, equipment, and machinery could receive a 10% tax credit of up to $5 million.

ALBERTA INVESTOR TAX CREDIT (AITC)
Starting in 2017, the AITC will offer a 30% tax credit to Alberta investors who provide venture capital to Alberta companies in innovative, non-traditional sectors including clean technology, health technology, digital animation sectors, etc.  The program is geared to support SMEs in acquiring equity financing and corporate investors to help grow their business.

CANADA-ALBERTA JOB GRANT
Assistance to help you train the workers you need.  This program can help fund training for your new or current employees.

ALBERTA JOBS PLAN
Supporting job creation, the government is working closely with private sector partners on several initiatives to create new jobs and expand access to workforce and skills training.

ALBERTA LABOUR – TRAINING FOR WORK PROGRAM
Established to help individuals get back to work through workplace skills and training programs. These programs support newcomers, Indigenous people, women, unemployed individuals, as well as individuals on Employment Insurance and Income Support.

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM 
National Research Council via Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) provides small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with financial assistance to hire young talent. Two new programs: the Youth Employment Program (YEP) and the Youth Employment Program – Green (YouthGreen) program.
