Learn the sounds of fire safety
From Oct. 3 to 9, the City of Leduc will recognize Fire Prevention Week and this year’s national theme that urges community members to learn the sounds of fire safety. Throughout the course of the week, residents are encouraged to review the following tips sheets and family-focused resources about fire safety:
- Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
- Alarms for people with a hearing impairment
- Smoke alarms at home
- Carbon monoxide safety
- Plan ahead! Escape planning
- Activities for kids
- Fire safety games
- Interactive learning about fire trucks and equipment
- Educational videos
Fire Prevention Week commemorates the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871, and caused devastating damage. This tragedy killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures, and burned more than 2,000 acres of land.
