RE/MAX Fitness Centre & AWG Indoor Track

Exciting Upgrades Coming to the Fitness Centre

We are thrilled to announce significant updates to the Fitness Centre at the Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC) this December. These upgrades will enhance your fitness experience, address user feedback, and ensure our facilities meet the evolving and diverse needs of our community.

What’s Changing?
  • New Equipment: Most of the equipment originally installed in 2009 will be replaced. We are adding expanded options for cable-driven, plate-loaded, and selectorized (pin & weight stack) machines. The new equipment includes features like QR code video demonstrations for easy use, gas-assisted seat adjustments, and +5lb toggle switches for workout customization.
  • Increased Capacity: We are increasing both the quantity and variety of equipment. This includes duplicating some high-demand pieces to help reduce wait times and provide more options for our users.
  • Enhanced Inclusivity: We are expanding our line-up of accessible equipment to make fitness more inclusive for people of all abilities. Additionally, we are refurbishing our existing accessible pieces to ensure they remain safe, comfortable, and durable.
Temporary Service Impacts
  • Fitness Centre Closure: The Fitness Centre will be closed from December 20 - 26 to accommodate the installation of the new equipment.
  • Limited Equipment: Beginning December 16, some equipment will be gradually removed to prepare for the installation and layout changes.
  • Alternative Options: During the closure, the Track will remain open, with select fitness equipment temporarily relocated for use on this level. Additionally, the High Performance Zone (HPZ) on the track will be temporarily open for public use during the following times:
December 20: 8:30 - 11:00 a.m., Noon - 2:00 p.m., and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
December 21 & 22: 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., Noon - 3:00 p.m., and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

December 26: 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Noon - 3:00 p.m., and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Sustainability in Action
  • This project is funded using savings from equipment lifecycle replacements that were paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring no impact on current or future taxes or user fees. The project will cost $326,500.
  • Our used but functional equipment will be rehomed to the New Sarepta Agriplex to support our partners at Leduc County, as well as to deserving community organizations through our vendor’s ReFit program, giving this equipment another life and minimizing waste.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance your fitness experience.
