Building Inspections
Leduc's building and inspections branch provides safety code services to Leduc citizens, under the direction of provincial government legislation. This service helps to ensure that all residential, commercial, industrial and institutional properties are constructed to meet or exceed the Alberta Building Code and related regulations, resulting in high quality housing and safe buildings.
- Required inspections are listed on the Plan Review Report.
- Contact the office 48 hours in advance to arrange for a building inspection.
- Call Planning and Development at 780-980-7137 or email inspect@leduc.ca. Arrangements will be made with a Safety Codes Officer to inspect.
- If the Safety Codes Officer identifies any problems, it is your responsibility to have them corrected. This may require re-inspections to ensure compliance.
Fees for inspection and permit services are comparable to municipalities and the private industry within the region. The City of Leduc provides timely service, consistent enforcement and an accommodating attitude to serve and meet the building industry needs.
Building and Safety Codes
The Building and Safety Codes branch is responsible for administering the approval of building permits, including plumbing, gas, electric and heating. The branch ensures all permits meet the requirements set out by the Alberta Building Code and related regulations. Safety Codes Officers within the branch conduct inspections to ensure that the work done meets the high quality standards expected in Leduc.
The department acts in accordance with city bylaws, policies, procedures and regulations and makes relevant provisions of the Municipal Government Act of Alberta and the Safety Codes Act.
