Willow Park Inclusive Playground
The inclusive playground in Willow Park will be an open and safe space carefully designed to help children of differing abilities and ages play and exercise safely. An inclusive playground provides all children with the same opportunity to play while breaking down physical and social barriers.
Playground Features:
- A ground level wheelchair accessible spinner; first in the region
- STEM/STEAM free-standing play miracle machine; first in the region
- A wheelchair accessible glider swing
- Sensory play equipment including smooth, textured, visual, auditory and uneven play components
- Four slides including spiral, straight, open top and tunnel
- A rope climber
- Playhouse for imaginative play
- Symbol-based communication board
About Construction:
Construction has begun on the new inclusive playground site at Willow Park School and is expected to be complete later this fall, weather permitting.
O’Hanlon Paving has been contracted to build the playground with Canadian Recreation Solutions (CRS) supplying and installing the playground equipment.
Public Engagement:
In early 2024, the City engaged the community, and 586 residents participated in the in-person and online surveys. See those results here.
