Stingrays Lifeguard Club
Please note: As part of our phased return to lifesaving sport programming, for the 2022-2023 season we are running a Junior Club only. As well, the club will not be attending any competitions this season.
Stingrays is an exhilarating, educational swim club for youth 8 years of age and older who have a strong desire to develop leadership and aquatic lifesaving skills. They must meet the following minimum swimming requirements:
- Juniors (8 - 12 years of age)
- Confidently swim 50m
- Perform 25m of lifesaving kick (whip kick, scissor kick or egg beater)
The Stingrays Lifeguard Club is based on the Lifesaving Society's Junior Lifeguard curriculum and members are coached to develop skills based on personal bests in swimming, lifesaving, fitness, knowledge, leadership and team work. This program provides high activity challenges in an energetic club environment both on deck and in the pool. Members may also be introduced to competitive lifesaving activities.
Lifesaving Sport Club (8 - 12 years of age)
Lifesaving Sport Club works on swimming skills as well as an introduction to water and dry land fitness. Participants develop team building skills, improve self-esteem, and participate in seasonal events and competitions (both local & provincial). Participants are encouraged to have a club t-shirt & swim cap which can be purchased at Guest Services at any time (previous members are not required to purchase new ones if they still have some from previous years). Participants will also be required to wear one-piece swimsuits and are encouraged to wear a black or blue swimsuit to coordinate with club colours.

Why are you slowly phasing back the Stingrays programming?
Aquatic facilities across the country are facing staffing shortages following close to 2 years of being unable to properly certify and re-certify aquatic staff. For this reason, we are facing a continued and critical staffing shortage. Stingrays coaches require additional specialized certification and training to perform their coaching duties which makes it even more difficult for us to staff the program. In an effort to ensure program quality and consistently, we’re taking the approach of re-starting slowly and building back to the strong club we used to be.
