Willow Park Inclusive Playground
A new inclusive playground will be constructed south of Willow Park School, designed with input collected from the community in January 2024. The playground upgrade will also assist with improving drainage challenges adjacent to the school.

Date | Status |
Nov. 13 | The Playground project is now complete. Additional landscape touch-ups will take place in spring 2025 along with minor deficiencies. Fencing is still in place to protect the new sod, but will be removed over the winter. |
Oct. 30 | The playground is now open to the public. Sod was installed in the surrounding areas this past week and needs to be protected, so fencing will remain around the new sod until snow and frost set in for the winter. Minor touch-ups will continue this fall and next spring, but the playground should remain open going forward. |
Oct. 23 | Landscaping continues this week as the project prepares for its grand opening next week. |
Oct. 16 | Playground equipment is mostly complete and is awaiting final safety inspection. Landscaping, including sod, is expected to be completed this week (weather dependent). |
Oct. 10 | The last few pieces of the playground are being installed this week and the playground equipment is being inspected for safety. The stripping, grading and sod work are taking place over the next week. The playground is expected to open in late October. |
Oct. 3 | Rubber surfacing is complete except for a few touch-ups. In the next two weeks, the last few pieces of equipment is anticipated to arrive and the equipment can be finalized. Site stripping, grading and landscaping will take place next. |
Sept. 25 | Playground equipment is mostly installed. Gravel base is being placed and finishing concrete work this week. Rubber surfacing is expected late this week into mid-next week with landscaping to follow. |
Sept. 18 | Playground equipment is being installed and will be near completion by the end of this week. The remaining concrete barrier curb, pads and plaza will be poured and the gravel base will be placed once installation is complete. Next is the placement of the rubber surface in about two weeks with landscaping to follow. |
Sept. 12 | Most of the playground equipment arrived on site this week and will be assembled over the next couple weeks. The barrier curb was poured and holes are being dug for the equipment posts. The gravel base and rubber surfacing will follow the equipment. |
Sept. 4 | The drainage system is expected to be installed along with gravel work this week. Form building to following with pouring the concrete barrier curb and pad. Equipment installation anticiapted to begin next week. |
Aug. 28 | The underground drainage system will be installed in the coming weeks, along with the gravel pad and concrete barrier curb. Playground equipment bases are expected to begin installation within the next two weeks. |
Aug. 15 | Demolition and base prep for the new playground was completed this week. Construction of the new playground will commence in September. |
Aug. 1 | Demolition of the existing playground is complete and earthworks is expected to begin in the next couple weeks. |
July 18 | Demolition of the existing playground and earthworks are expected to begin in the next week. The existing playground on the south side of the school will be unavailable, however the other playgrounds at the school will remain open. |
